When a news channel is openly ducking the law (news channels should not be airing GEC serials) and cheating its viewers (by inventing news around last night’s stale soap) you don’t care about disclosure. You care about closure, says BV Rao.
Before you knew it, the event has already drawn to a close. The last day of Spikes Asia Festival 2009 is already here, and everyone is looking forward to the awards night with which the event culminates. The last day has some key sessions lined up. However, the day has to begin with conversations on which of the six parties – Starcom MediaVest Group, Euro RSCG, BBDO, TBWA\, Ogilvy & JWT (all held on September 17, 2009) – rocked the most. <br> <a href=http://www.exchange4media.com/e4m/news/fullstory.asp?section_id=1&news_id=35919&tag=31781&pict=0 target= _blank><b>Trying to be brave, is silly: Neil French@Spikes Asia</b></a> <br> <a href=http://www.exchange4media.com/e4m/news/fullstory.asp?section_id=1&news_id=35921&tag=31783&pict=0 target= _blank><b>Re-Set & stay with the simple idea: John Hunt, TBWA\Worldwide</b></a> <br> <a href=http://www.exchange4media.com/e4m/news/fullstory.asp?section_id=1&news_id=35922&tag=31784&pict=0 target= _blank><b>Restriction leads to Innovat

Unlike the Cannes debate, where the panel completely agreed on the points made, the Spikes debate at least gave the audience what they were told it would – a debate. The only point here was that the debate had nothing to do with the topic ‘Is Asian Creativity up to the Task’. The panel in fact questioned the subject itself.

The Wildfire team – Leo Burnett’s Mark Tutssel & Contagious’ Paul Kemp-Robertson were at Spikes, too, though with the same advice that they had on wildfire stories at the Cannes Lion International Advertising Festival in June 2009. The most applauded, best attended and high energy session of the day was BBC Hard Talk with Neil French, and needless to say, the credit for the “sex” in the session can go only to the godfather of advertising himself. BBC World News’ Mishal Hussain may have expected French to be tough, but the interaction kept the audience spellbound.
