Sunder Thiyagaraan, Vice President & Vertical Head –Print, and Prakash Sankaranarayanan, Head - Business Development & Brand Marketing have quit Vikatan.
Thiyagarajan has bid adieu to the media house after a stint of three years. Thiyagarajan handled advertising sales (Print brands) of the Vikatan Group and additionally managed North and East Indian markets for Group's Print, Digital, Event and TV verticals. In his earlier role at Vikatan, he led the marketing functions of Print publications.
On his future plans Thiyagarajan says, “Unusual times opens up new opportunities and one has to be focussed to identify those opportunities and turn them into foundations for strong business. I am putting together some pieces in the puzzle with my would-be founders, for a forward-looking start-up, to solve a problem, we think the industry is facing.”
Prior to Vikatan, Thiyagarajan worked at Gold Farm as Vice President - Field Operations & Marketing. He has also worked at Golden Sparrow (Publishing and Media Works) as Chief Operating Officer and as Vice-President – Sales & Distribution at Delhi Press. Sunder has also been part of Madura Micro Finance, Infomedia18, Jasubhai Digital Media, Business Standard and Outlook Publishing.

Prakash Sankaranarayanan's last day at Vikatan was June 30 and he leaves the company after a two-year stint. With more than two decades of experience in marketing, brand management, and brand consulting, Pak, as he is known, now plans to don the hat of an entrepreneur.

Commenting on his move and his future plans, Sankaranarayanan says, "Having spent over two decades in brand consulting and brand management, I strongly believe brand management is a specialised space as brands need the intangible power of vision, passion & commitment as much as the tangible aspects such as creativity, media and engagement. More than ever, brands need these values to differentiate, grow and deliver value to their stake-holders in today's tough economic situation. I am co-creating an ecosystem which will engage & deliver these values to our clients".

Before joining Vikatan, he was associated with Times Group (BCCL) for over 12 years. He played an active role and was part of the launch team of The Times of India Chennai & Tamil Nadu editions. His last role at Times Group was the Regional Vertical Head where he handled FMCG / Pharma OTC advertising business vertical for Tamil Nadu. Prior to Times Group, he was the Group Brand Manager with Vertebrand Management Consulting. Early on in his career, he was part of the global analyst team at Frost & Sullivan.
