Google’s Vikas Agnihotri joins SoftBank
SoftBank Vision Fund has said Agnihotri is joining as its first Operating Partner
Vikas Agnihotri, who stepped down as Interim Head of Google India in late December, has joined SoftBank. exchange4media has independent confirmation about the development.
We had reported that Agnihotri would continue as Country Director - Sales, Google India, till January.
Agnihotri was associated with the tech giant for the last 8 years. He took over as Interim Head after Rajan Anandan stepped down as VP, South East Asia.
SoftBank issued a statement on Friday saying: "To continue its expansion in India and bolster portfolio companies, SBIA has announced the appointment of Vikas Agnihotri as its first Operating Partner to foster closer connections with the region’s technology ecosystem and the SBIA’s global network."
The statement futher says: "Vikas joins from Google where he had a stint of close to a decade in different leadership roles, the last one being the Interim Country Head and Managing Director. Vikas has rich experience in wealth management, finance and banking operations in his career spanning over 25 years. He is on the board of Mobile Marketing Association, the Advertising Standards Council of India, and Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). Vikas holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies from Sydenham Institute of Management Studies. Vikas is also known as an “angel investor” and has been a speaker at TEDx.
After launching the SoftBank Vision Fund I in 2017, SoftBank Vision Fund II was announced last year to continue the strategic investment in technology and innovation globally. In India, SoftBank Vision Fund I has already invested over $10bn in leading technology companies. These include Grofers, Lenskart, Delhivery, FirstCry, Oyo, Ola, PayTM, and PolicyBazaar.
