As the Indian entertainment and advertising industries continue to adapt to new formats and audiences, Savitaraj Hiremath stands out for her ability to move across both sectors with impact. On her birthday today, her contributions as a film producer, ad industry leader, and entrepreneur are worth revisiting for the wide-ranging influence they’ve had over the past two decades.
Hiremath is best known in cinema circles for producing the award-winning film Khosla Ka Ghosla, a slice-of-life satire that broke away from mainstream Bollywood formulas. The film won the National Award for Best Hindi Feature Film and received international recognition, including the Best Foreign Film award at the Vienna Film Festival. It was later ranked among Forbes’ top 100 Bollywood films of the century. She followed it with Jhund, a sports drama rooted in themes of social reform, further reinforcing her preference for realism-driven narratives.
Advertising and Brand Work
Before her foray into cinema, Hiremath founded Ushakkaal Communication, an advertising agency known for its socially conscious campaigns and creative branding. The agency has won over 120 industry awards and built a reputation for combining commercial appeal with purpose-led storytelling.
Her campaigns often focused on messaging beyond brand sales, placing emphasis on social impact and emotional resonance. This work established her as a respected name within India’s advertising ecosystem, particularly in cause-based communication.
Hiremath’s contributions also extend into event and platform-building. One of the more notable initiatives she helped execute was the T20 International Cricket for the Blind in 2017, which received formal acknowledgment from both the President and Prime Minister of India. The event stood out for its inclusive approach and national-scale coordination.
Hiremath currently leads Tandav Films Entertainment, continuing to develop content projects. She also served as Co-Founder and Investor in Superstar Xchange, a San Francisco-based Media-Tech venture aimed at helping film studios monetize content through NFTs. The startup reflected her interest in exploring newer models of digital ownership and revenue in the entertainment space.
Across her career, Savitaraj Hiremath has maintained a presence in multiple parts of the media value chain—advertising, film production, social campaigns, and tech-based content innovation. While her name may not always be front-facing, her work has shaped several influential projects and platforms across industries.
On her birthday, she remains an example of a professional who has consistently operated at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and long-term impact.
