Govt looking to appoint agency for poll ads

The pitch will take place in December and the chosen agency will be engaged till March 31, 2019.


With general elections just months away, the BJP government at the Centre is looking to appoint an advertising agencies to spread the world about its achievements, according to media reports.

The MIB, through its Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC), has reportedly invited expressions of interest from advertising agencies. The process starts on December 10.

The tasks expected from the chosen agency has been listed on the MIB site. The selected agency will have to produce multi-media campaigns for television, print, outdoor and social media. The agency will also have to develop logos and taglines, radio creatives and theme songs. The creative will have to be in multiple languages, including Hindi, English, Gujarai, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Assamese, Kannada, and urdu.

The pitch will take place in December and the chosen agency will be engaged till March 31, 2019. The expressions of interest (EOIs) will start on December 10.

According to reports, the government schemes that will be the focus of the communication are Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat, Make in India, Ayushman Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mudra, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Digital India, Skill India, Digital Payment Promotion and Ujwala.

The size of the contract has not been mentioned but it could well be huge, as according to some reports, the government spent more than Rs 4,300 crore on publicity during the first four years of its term.
