Delhi HC asks Kejriwal govt for details of ad spends
The decision came after Congress leader Ajay Maken filed a PIL. The next hearing is on August 3
Delhi High Court has asked the Aam Aadmi Party to file a status report with all the details of money they spent on advertisements. This order from the HC came in the backdrop of Supreme Court’s judgement of government advertisement guidelines which were passed earlier this year in order to check the misuse of public money.
Media reports stated that the court issued strict directions to the Delhi government saying, “Having regard to the fact that the Supreme Court issued strict directions and keeping in the averments in petitions, the Delhi government is directed to file its response furnishing the details of amount spent on advertisements in print and electronic media after the Supreme Court judgement.”
The next hearing on the matter is set for August 3. The court also asked Delhi government for details as to their advertisement spends in other states in the country.
The court’s order came after senior Congress leader Ajay Maken filed a PIL. Media reports suggest he sought direction to restrain Delhi government from airing its recent audio visual advertisement and also advertisements in other media.
