Google’s bid for Google+, adds Contract; campaign to be out soon
Following the launch of Google+, Contract Advertising has been added to the Internet giant’s agency roster in India. A large arrow pointing towards Google+ is already in place on the Google homepage and the social network is being heavily promoted. It is understood that Contract is set to release a campaign for the internet giant.
Following the launch of Google+, Google’s response to Facebook in the social networking space in June this year, Contract Advertising has recently been added to the Internet giant’s agency roster in India. A large arrow pointing towards Google+ is in place on the homepage and Google seems to be promoting the social network heavily.
Though no official confirmations could be obtained for the development, sources close to the development have confirmed the news. It is also learnt that Contract Advertising is about to release a campaign for the Internet Giant in less than two weeks. Google is not a conventional advertiser and works with several agencies in India for its different products.
Google had invested heavily in promoting its web browser Chrome through conventional advertising, releasing full page ads in the leading dailies last year. By December 2010, Chrome had left Internet Explorer 7 behind to become the third-most used web browser. Google had also initiated a campaign called “Watch this space” earlier this year to promote display advertising and attract small and medium companies to use its Adword’s services.
It would be interesting to see how Google develops Google+ as a brand in India.
