The week that went by was an eventful one with a lot of important happenings from the ad, marketing and broadcasting world. We bring to some of the biggest moments from the last week.

The week started with news that startled the advertising world. One of the most important names in Indian advertising, Sonal Dabral, the Chief Creative Officer South and South East Asia and Vice Chairman of Ogilvy, was said to have bid farewell to the company.

It was announced that after his exit, Kainaz Karmakar, Harshad Rajadhyaksha and Sukesh Nayak will take over as joint CCOs at Ogilvy India.

Ajay Gupte was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Wavemaker, South Asia. The erstwhile COO will take over from Kartik Sharma who stepped down.

It was announced that Kartik Sharma would become the next CEO of OMG India after stepping down from Wavemaker.

Arvind Krishna was named as CEO of IBM Corp. Currently the senior vice president of Cloud & Cognitive Software, he will take over as CEO in April.

Abu Dhabi Media roped in Sanjay Raina as Executive Director – Commercial. Prior to this, Raina was GM and VP of Fox Networks Group, MENA and Pakistan.

Publicis Groupe India also announced the creation of Publicis In-Motion with Praveen Kumar Vadhera as the head.

SPNI announced the appointment of Saugata Mukherjee as Head – Original Content, Digital Business.

Manisha Lath Gupta also exited Uber as Marketing Head for India.

Puneet Kapoor was announced as the new regional creative officer for Lowe Lintas.

In the digital world, Disney+ launching in India on March 29 made big news. The existing Hotstar VIP/Premium services will be rebranded as Disney + Hotstar.

Also, Digital Curated Content Complaint Council was formed by IAMAI to help OTT consumers air their grievances. 

Major account wins included Lowe Lintas winning Uber Moto’s creative duties.

Isobar took home the creative and digital mandate for four Diageo India brands.

Gozoop also won the digital mandate for Tata Steel.
