As I look back on nearly five decades with Madan, I do not see a timeline. I see moments. Conversations. Risks we took when no one was watching. Battles we fought when no one believed, and the quiet satisfaction of building something that would one day become The Adfactors Group.
We did not set out to be the biggest. We set out to be the ‘best.’ The biggest followed.
We met 46 years ago, have been partners for 44 years, and have worked shoulder to shoulder with Madan over these years. For all those 44 years, we have been partners in the truest sense. Not just in business, but in belief. In resilience. In a friendship that has seen disagreements, debates, doubts, laughter, and unwavering trust. There were days we disagreed. There were phases when the road tested us. But we never once stopped walking it together, and that has made all the difference.
Madan has always been the quintessential “Idea’s Man.” Restless, curious, energetic, and with a childlike curiosity to continuously learn. He can see around corners. He can sense opportunity before it is visible. Many of Adfactors’ defining moments began with one of Madan’s simple sentences. “Why can’t we do this?” That question has today helped build an institution.
What sets him apart is not just professional brilliance. It is just how simple and humane he has been from the very start.
I have seen him switch effortlessly between roles. A partner, my best friend, my mentor, a husband, a father, a colleague and a guide. And in every role, he brings the same sincerity, warmth, and generosity of spirit. The Adfactors family is not a phrase to him. It is personal. He remembers people. He invests in them. He stands by them.
We built three firms together. We built teams. We built leaders. We built credibility for an industry that once struggled to be understood. And through it all, Madan has remained grounded, approachable, and deeply committed to the people around him. It is perhaps his roots from very humble beginnings from a small neighbourhood in Bhandup (West) that have etched this innate set of qualities in him.
There were times when the industry changed faster than we did. Times when clients tested us. Times when growth felt uncertain. In every one of those moments, Madan’s optimism carried us forward. He has an unshakeable belief that things will work out and more often than not, they do - almost always! Like he has some crystal ball!
If I had to describe him in a few words, they would be: versatile, forever evolving, and a learner for life. If I had to tell our journey in one word, it would be trust.
As he turns 70, I do not celebrate his age. I celebrate his impact. On me. On our teams. On the profession. On everyone fortunate enough to have worked with him.
This is not just a tribute to a visionary professional. This is a note from a friend who has walked life’s long road with him. Through the highs. Through the lows. Through the disagreements. Through the triumphs, and if I had to do it all over again, I would choose the same partner. Every single time!!!
Happy 70th, Madan. May the ideas continue to flow and our friendship grow even stronger! Thank you for taking me along on an incredible journey with you. Would not have had it any other way…
When i analyse our relationship, one thought comes to my mind that we are 2 bodies one soul.
