Oracle Corporation has promoted Clay Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia as its new Chief Executive Officers. Clay Magouyrk was earlier the President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). He joined Oracle in 2014 from Amazon Web Services and was part of the founding cloud engineering team.
Clay led the design and growth of Gen2 OCI, a secure, high-performance and cost-efficient cloud platform that supports both large public cloud data centers and massive AI training centers. Under his leadership, OCI has grown rapidly and become a key platform for AI training and inference.
Mike Sicilia, earlier the President of Oracle Industries, has deep experience in industry-specific applications and applied AI. He joined Oracle through the acquisition of Primavera Systems. Mike’s teams developed new ways to build Oracle applications by using intent-based generation instead of traditional coding. They also added advanced AI agents to Oracle’s industry application suites covering healthcare, banking, communications, utilities, hospitality and retail. These AI-powered applications now offer complete solutions for both regulated and traditional industries.
Larry Ellison, Oracle’s Chairman of the Board and Chief Technology Officer, said, “The world is investing heavily in Artificial Intelligence, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure plays a major role in this. Clay’s experience in leading Oracle’s fast-growing Cloud Infrastructure business shows he is ready for a CEO role. Mike has spent years modernizing Oracle’s industry applications, including Oracle Health, with the latest AI technologies. A few years ago, Clay and Mike committed our Infrastructure and Applications businesses to AI—and it’s paying off. They are both proven leaders, and I look forward to working with them. Oracle’s future is bright.”
As CEOs, Magouyrk and Sicilia will work together to build complete industry suites of AI applications on top of Oracle’s expanding AI Database and Cloud Infrastructure. In a joint statement, they said, “We are excited to lead Oracle into the AI era, where innovation brings big opportunities and growth. Our combined strengths in AI, cloud infrastructure, and applications will help Oracle deliver the latest AI capabilities to customers.”
Safra Catz, who has been Oracle’s CEO since 2014, will now serve as Executive Vice Chair of the Oracle Board of Directors. Larry Ellison said, “Safra led Oracle as we became a major cloud company. As Vice Chair, Safra and I will continue our long partnership to guide Oracle’s growth and success.”
Safra Catz added, “Oracle is now the cloud of choice for AI training and inferencing. Our technology and business have never been stronger. With our strong growth, this is the right time to hand over the CEO role to the next generation of leaders. Congratulations to Clay and Mike.”
Oracle also announced two other key promotions. Mark Hura, EVP of Oracle North America Sales, will become President, Global Field Operations, and Doug Kehring, EVP of Operations, will become Principal Financial Officer.
