Mars, Incorporated has appointed Manish Syag as the Managing Director of its Pet Nutrition business in India. He will now head the company’s pet food operations in the country, which include popular brands like PEDIGREE®, WHISKAS®, and SHEBA®.
Manish brings over two decades of experience in the FMCG industry. Earlier in his career, he held senior sales roles at Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and GSK Consumer Healthcare. He joined Mars in 2024 as Chief Sales Officer and played an important role in expanding the company’s pet nutrition business across India.
A graduate of IIM Lucknow, Manish is recognized for building strong teams and delivering business growth. In his new position, he will focus on driving expansion in the Indian market, improving operational performance, and strengthening Mars’ position in the fast-growing pet food category.
Speaking about his appointment, Manish said that the Indian pet food market is growing rapidly and could reach USD 2 billion in the next ten years. He noted that rising awareness, better availability, and increasing trust among consumers are fueling this growth. He added that he is excited to lead the next phase of development and provide high-quality, trusted products to pet parents across the country. He also said the company will continue to follow its core values and purpose of creating “A Better World For Pets.”
Manish succeeds Salil Murthy, who has moved into the role of Global Vice President, Enterprise Transformation at Mars Pet Nutrition. In his new international role, Salil will focus on long-term business transformation, leadership development, and building a more efficient and future-ready operating model. He will be based in London, home to the global headquarters of Mars Pet Nutrition.
Salil said he is looking forward to his new global responsibilities and supporting the company’s broader growth plans. He described his time leading the India business as highly fulfilling and expressed confidence that Manish will successfully guide the next stage of growth.
