Karthik Subbaraman gets new role at Network18

Karthik Subbaraman has been assigned a new role at Network18.

According to an internal mail from Rahul Joshi, Managing Director of Network18.

The communication read: “Post convergence, we now have an organizational structure that is geared towards efficiency and brand cohesiveness across all platforms. The next phase of our journey is going to be make or break—it will determine whether we are able to build on all our strengths to create a world-beating media model. I believe we can, and we will.

Towards this end, I am moving Karthik Subbaraman out of regular editorial duties and into my office to establish a creative group that will work with me and the management group on group-level ideas. My intention is for this group to serve as a catalyst that will unlock the full potential of our creative and innovative energies.

It is evident to all that the news media business is facing continuous disruption, and therefore needs equally disruptive thinking at all times.

Our salvation lies in creativity, dynamism and differentiation across all functions. We must do this day in and day out, and do it efficiently. I am counting on this creative group that I am establishing to act as an important facilitator.

Karthik and this team will also assist me in re-imagining some of our properties and in broadening the footprint of others.”
