Ashish Sharma has been appointed the CEO of GMR Group's EdTech venture. The news has been shared by Sharma in a LinkedIn post.
“India's aviation sector has a problem it is not talking about loudly enough, and that is the reason behind why I am joining GMR Group's EdTech venture as CEO.
Aviation’s infra story is well known: 220+ airports by 2030; expanding fleets, new routes, aggressive growth across every major carrier. What gets less attention is the people story: pilots, aircraft engineers, ATC specialists, ground operations professionals, cabin crew. The people that the sector runs on are coming through institutions not built for the moment or scale of a billion-plus population that is looking to take to the skies. GMR is unusually well-positioned to address the gap between supply and what the sector will need is large, and it is widening. Infrastructure, industry embeddedness, and genuine operational stakes in aviation — these are things most EdTech ventures spend years trying to acquire. Here, they are the starting point,” he wrote in a post.
Sharma joins GMR Group from PW (PhysicsWallah), where he was the Business Head-PW Skills.
In the past, he was with upGrad as its Vice President.
