Shiv Aroor is set to leave India Today after an 18-year-long tenure and will soon take on an Editorial Leadership role at NDTV. Highly placed sources have confirmed the development to e4m, stating that Aroor will continue as Executive Editor and Anchor at India Today until end of February 2025, before taking a short 30 day sabbatical ahead of his transition to NDTV and most likely to join NDTV in first week of April 2025. The exact editorial role will unfold in April only .
NDTV is attracting top notch Editorial Leaders to its fold.It is noteworthy that almost 14 months back Nikunj Garg had joined NDTV in a Group Editorial leadership role as Senior Managing Editor. Garg was previously with the Times Group as the Managing Editor of Mirror Now and Times Now. Garg is based out of Delhi and oversees NDTV 24x7, with all teams reporting to him. Furthermore, Garg is incharge of news gathering for both NDTV 24x7 and NDTV India. Garg and his editorial teams have been steadily and successfully working on retaining and growing the NDTV 24x7 viewership back with strong content and offbeat programming.
With Shiv Aroor joining NDTV’s editorial leadership team is going to get additional editorial heft and it would be interesting to see if this move results in adding and growing viewership and creating a buzz for the group’s flagship platform NDTV 24x7 .
Known for his sharp political and defense reporting, Aroor has been a key figure in India Today’s editorial coverage, bringing in-depth analysis and on-ground reporting to some of the most significant stories over the years. His journalistic excellence has earned him multiple accolades, including the 'Best Anchor - English' award at the enba 2023, reaffirming his influence in Indian television journalism.
Beyond television, Aroor has made a mark in military literature. He is the author of 'Operation Jinnah' (2017), a gripping military thriller, and co-author of the highly acclaimed 'India’s Most Fearless' series, which chronicles real-life stories of valor from the Indian Armed Forces. The third installment of the series, released in 2022, further cemented his reputation as one of the leading voices in the defense space.
