Prasar Bharati sells MPEG 4 slots to four channels

Samay, 9X Jalwa, Sangeet Bangla and JK 24x7 win slots on a pro-rata basis for the period - February 1 to May 14 - as part of the 43rd e-auction

Prasar Bharati has announced 43rd online auction results and sold allotment for MPEG 4 slots on a pro-rata basis for Rs 66 lakh for the period February 1 to May 14, 2020.

The four channels include Samay ( Hindi News channel), 9X Jalwa (Hindi music channel), Sangeet Bangla (Bangla music channel) and JK 24x7 (Hindi news channel).

Only channels licensed by the I&B Ministry were allowed to participate in the allocation for the 41st online e-auction process. Companies holding valid permission from the ministry or their authorised distributor partners only can apply for allocation of DD Free Dish slots.

If the bidder company is other than the channel licence holder, the letter/agreement signed between the licence Holder Company and the Distributor Company, authorising the bidder for distribution of the channel and bidding on behalf of the channel, must be submitted.

The bidding in the e-auction of MPEG-4 slots was open to all genres (language) channels at a reserve price of Rs 16,50,000.
