IBF launches India’s first TV festival – Indian TV Fest

Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), the governing body for broadcasters in India, has announced the launch of the country’s first ever Indian TV Fest ’12, scheduled to be held at the Baga Grounds, Goa on November 2 and 3. exchange4media is the exclusive industry partner for ITF 2012.
The two-day fest is a unique platform for the Indian and global broadcasting industry to network and exchange ideas through panel discussions and master classes. Renowned names from India and across the globe are expected to participate in the mega event. The event boasts of an impressive line-up of speakers, including luminaries like Andy Bird, Chairman, Walt Disney International; James Murdoch, Deputy COO, Chairman and CEO, International News Corporation; Michael Lynton, CEO, Sony Corporation of America; Hugh Johnson, Head Commercial Marketing & Research, Channel 4; and Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Zee & ESSEL Group.
Indian TV Fest ’12 will play host to interactive seminars, keynote sessions, events, content, business services technology and service pavilions, lounges for private meetings, performances and a plethora of sporting activities.
Uday Shankar, President, IBF, made this announcement at a press conference in Mumbai on August 1, 2012, that was also attended by core festival committee members – Sunil Lulla, Keertan Adyanthaya, Monica Tata, Lydia Buthello and Punit Goenka, Treasurer, IBF.
Shankar said, “This is more than just a festival. It’s an opportunity for Indian and global broadcasters to grow in a market that is considered to be the fastest growing. With a current reach of over 140 million homes, the market with a population of 1.2 billion holds a great opportunity and the event is an ideal platform to look at opportunities that lie ahead for augmenting this dynamic industry.”
Announcing the key speakers for ITF ’12, Punit Goenka said, “The key speakers at ITF ’12 will be coming together for a special master class to share their knowledge with the attendees. There will be other stalwarts from the Indian broadcasting industry sharing their experiences and discussing industry related topics. In addition, there will be over 60 stalls exhibiting content related to every spectrum of the TV industry. Never before has one seen an event of this scale being held in India.”
The IBF Office Bearers comprise its three Board Members – Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India; Sunil Lulla, MD & CEO, Times Television Network; and Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL). The ITF Festival Organising Committee comprises Sunil Lulla, MD & CEO, Times Television Network; Keertan Adyanthaya, MD, NGC Networks India; Monica Tata, GM, Entertainment Networks, South Asia, Turner International India; and Lydia Buthello, Head of Events, STAR India.
Although targeted at industry professionals, anyone with a keen interest in understanding the Indian television industry from Indian and international luminaries is encouraged to attend the fest. To motivate aspirant youth participation, the ITF has waived off registration fees for participants under-25 years.
