Arnab Ranjan Goswami, born on 7 March 1973 in Guwahati, Assam, is a prominent name in Indian news media. He currently serves as the managing director and editor-in-chief of Republic TV, a channel he launched in May 2017. Known for his bold questioning and passionate debates, Arnab has carved a distinct space for himself in the world of television journalism. Before Republic TV, Arnab was the editor-in-chief and a key news anchor at Times Now and ET Now from 2006 to 2016. During this time, he became widely known for hosting The Newshour, a live debate show aired at 9 pm on weekdays. The show, featuring high-profile guests and heated discussions, contributed significantly to Arnab’s rise to national fame. Alongside this, he hosted Frankly Speaking with Arnab, an interview-based program that featured global and political figures like former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai, and Dalai Lama, among others.
Arnab's journalism joArnaburney began with The Telegraph in Kolkata before moving to NDTV, where he worked from 1996 to 2006. At NDTV, he anchored shows like Newsnight, which won him the Best News Anchor of Asia award at the 2004 Asian Television Awards. resigned from Times Now in November 2016 citing editorial differences and concerns over journalistic freedom.
