Prasar Bharati has awarded carriage to five television channels through its mid-year e-auctions for vacant slots on DD Free Dish.
The slots have been allotted for a two-month period starting February 1, 2026, and will remain valid till March 31, 2026.
The auctions were conducted to monetise unused capacity on the free-to-air DTH platform.
Under the MPEG-2 category, two channels — GTC Punjabi and Movieplex — secured slots. Meanwhile, three news channels — North East Live, FM News and K News India — won slots in the MPEG-4 category.
These mid-year e-auctions were held outside the regular annual auction cycle to fill vacant slots on a pro-rata basis.
