Prasar Bharati has released a draft policy for the syndication of content owned by Akashvani and Doordarshan across various platforms, including television, radio, and digital services such as OTT.
As part of the process, the public broadcaster has launched a structured consultation to gather feedback from media stakeholders. This includes TV channels, OTT platforms, DTH operators, telecom providers, radio networks, content aggregators, and other industry players.
The proposed Content Syndication Policy 2025 aims to create a framework for sharing and monetizing Prasar Bharati's programming across platforms, both in India and internationally. The policy draft and a consultation note have been shared with the industry to help guide responses.
Prasar Bharati has outlined several possible monetization structures, including flat fee licensing, revenue sharing, minimum guarantee plus revenue share, and barter-based exchanges.
The consultation also invites suggestions on how revenue could be shared across different platforms—such as TV, OTT, and radio. Stakeholders have been requested to submit their feedback via email by September 21.
