Bigg Boss 10 powered by Oppo Mobiles may return to 9PM primetime slot
Maruti Corp also joins the list of other brands associated with the property. The format for this year’s Bigg Boss has few new additions, like for the first time throwing it open to public.
Colors has begun airing the latest promos for Bigg Boss Season 10 powered by Oppo Mobiles. The channel CEO, Raj Nayak recently tweeted where he mentioned Maruti Corp in the list of other sponsors. In the month of April, the channel locked in Appy Fizz as the presenting sponsor for the popular show. Last year, Snapdeal was the presenting sponsor; it came on board in 2014 after Vodafone’s five-year deal with the channel ended.
For this season, reports suggest that Salman Khan, the popular host of the show, is charging a whopping Rs 6 to Rs 8 crore per episode but he later asked the channel to contribute a certain amount to his charity organisation ‘Being Human’. The show is expected to hit the TV screens in October this year. Last year, Oppo Mobiles, which was also the ‘powered by sponsor’, spent around Rs 25 crore for the promotion of the brand. Reportedly, Snapdeal even spent Rs 35 crore for its sponsorship last time.
In two of the latest promos released recently, Salman Khan dons the suit of an astronaut while in the other, he is seen in his popular Sultan aka wrestler avatar.
The format for this year’s Bigg Boss has a few new additions. For the first time, the show has been thrown open to public. In April, the channel launched promos inviting participants to submit a three-minute video showcasing some of the special traits which will make them eligible to enter ‘Big Boss 10’ as contestants. The date of sending the entries started in January and continued until May 31.
Plans to get Bigg Boss back to the 9PM slot
In Bigg Boss Season 9, the channel experimented with the slot timings and shifted it from 9 pm to10:30 pm (Monday to Friday) and on weekends at 9pm. According to recent reports, the channel is in talks to get their popular reality show back to the 9PM slot which had always worked well for them.
Last season, the show didn’t garner high ratings as compared to their earlier seasons. Other than the opening episode, the rest were quite lacklustre in terms of the viewership numbers. With BARC including the rural ratings, it further affected the show’s ranking as its late night slot was largely averse to rural sensibilities.
However, in the earlier seasons, the ratings remained quite high. In the final week of Bigg Boss season 8, the ratings had increased to as high as 6.1 TVTs according to TAM ratings. The show’s ratings had grown even further as its spin-off -- Bigg Boss ‘Halla Bol’ brought in ratings of 6.5 million viewers.
In season 7 too, Bigg Boss had managed high ratings of 4.40 TRPs on an average throughout the season. Ratings on the last week of the show had reached its peak with 5.73 TRPs. Prior to that, in season 6, the average ratings of the show stood at 3.81 TRPs, with finale ratings reaching to 4.40 TRPs.For more updates, be socially connected with us on
