BARC Week 47: Sun TV maintains the lead in Top 10 Channels

In week 48 of the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India's data, top players in South GEC category continued to maintain their positions

The 48th-week data of the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India continued on Thursday and the top players in South GEC category maintained their positions this week also. In the across the genre category, Sun TV bagged the first position with 995 million impressions, among the Top 10 channels.

Star Maa which was in the 7th position in Week 47 maintained their position this week with 677 million impressions. The market leaders Colors Kannada, Asianet, Star Maa, SUN TV retained their , in week 47 also.


Colors Kannada with 450 million impressions came in the first spot in Kannada GEC category. Zee Kannada came second with 389 million impressions followed by Udaya TV with 196 million impressions. Udaya movies with 188 million impressions came fourth. Colors Super which made an entry into the top 5 list with 139 million impressions in week 47 maintained its spot this week with 141 million impressions.  

In the Kannada program category, the first two places and fourth spot were bagged by Colors Kannada with their prime time serial Putta Gowri Maduve bagging the first position with 7 million impressions. Zee Kannada bagged the 3rd and 5th  spots in the program category


In week 47, Asianet bagged the first spot in Malayalam GEC category with 302 million impressions. Flowers TV maintained their second spot with 111 million impressions followed by Mazhavil Manorama with 85 million impressions. Surya TV came fourth with 75 million impressions followed by Asianet Movies with 64 million impressions. The prime-time serials of Asianet bagged the top 5 positions in the Malayalam program category.


The market leader SUN TV came first with 927 million impressions in Tamil GEC category. Zee Tamil maintained their second spot with 526 million impressions.  Star Vijay bagged the third position with 508 million impressions followed by KTV with 342 million impressions. Adithya TV took the fourth spot with 106 million impressions. SUN TV’s prime time serials claimed the first, second, fourth, and fifth spots in the program category with the channel’s prime time serial Naayagi bagging the first spot with 11 million impressions.


Star Maa took the first position in Telugu GEC category with 635 million impressions. Zee Telugu which was at the third spot last week climbed one position up to bag the second spot with 572 million impressions. ETV Telugu came third with 471 million impressions. Gemini TV bagged the fourth spot with 412 million impressions followed by Gemini movies with 200 million impressions.

Star Maa bagged the top 5 positions in the program category with channel’s Karthika Deepam bagging the first spot with 13 million impressions.
