2.5 crore viewers tuned into Bigg Boss Malayalam in the opening week

Endemol’s Big Boss Malayalam which started telecast on June 24th had 2.5 crores viewers in the opening week.

Endemol’s Big Boss Malayalam which started telecast on June 24th had 2.5 crores viewers in the opening week. The show which is hosted by Mohanlal is aired on Asianet from Monday to Friday at 9:30 pm.

The 2.5 crore viewers are from rural and urban audience in Kerala, according to BARC India Data. Presented by Asianet and produced by Endemol Shine Productions, Bigg Boss Malayalam is featuring 16 celebrities living together inside a custom made ‘Bigg Boss’ house for 100 days, completely cut off from the outside world. The list of celebrities includes Shweta Menon, Ranjini Haridas, Pearle Maaney, Sreelakshmi Jagathy, Anoop Chandran, Deepan Murali etc.

Talking to exchange4media Reghu Ramachandran, Senior VP, Asianet Communications Ltd says, “It has been a great start, especially looking at the reach of the show on Week 1. Mohanlal has easily stepped into the role of a TV host and was at his best in the opening show as well as the eviction episodes. We do have a good line up of contestants and as we go forward and introduce new tasks in the house, we expect the viewership to go up further.”

Asianet has signed Mohanlal to host the show during their 25th anniversary. Before the launch of the show he has that the show will definitely be a new experience for him and he is excited about the role as the challenged will be totally different.
