Ajikali founder-editor Bismay Kumar Mohanty passes away at 62

Mohanty was also the president of Odisha Small and Medium Newspaper Organisation and was also associated with various social and cultural organisations

Bismay Kumar Mohanty, a noted journalist and owner-editor of Balasore-based Odia daily ‘Ajikali’ passed away on Sunday following a heart attack in Puri.

According to media reports, Mohanty, 62, who is survived by wife, a son and daughter had gone to Puri to visit Jagannath Temple and was suppose to receive dialysis in Bhubaneswar on his return as he was suffering from nephrology-related ailments.

He complained of chest pain to his wife on Sunday morning and was taken to Puri hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Many prominent people including local MP Rabindra Jena and others from the media industry visited his native place to convey their condolences to the family at village Saradangain in Balasore district were his last rites were performed.

Mohanty was also the president of Odisha Small and Medium Newspaper Organisation and was also associated with various social and cultural organisations.
