Rahul Agarwal, CEO & Managing Director, Lenovo India, gave insights on 'Making brands purposeful' in an engaging fireside chat with Vasuta Agarwal, VP & GM – InMobi India at the recently concluded exchange4media Conclave South. Agarwal’s wealth of experience has been instrumental in driving Lenovo’s growth ever since he joined the company as CEO and Managing Director in 2016.
Commenting on ‘Why does a brand need purpose?’ Agarwal said, “I believe that an organisation also needs to have a purpose or a goal, given that every organisation will survive only if there is bottomline, and there will be bottomline only if there is topline. But it has been proven and shown that an organisation needs to have a purpose.”
Talking about the importance of ‘purpose’ for a brand and even for individuals, Agarwal said, “It (purpose) is a fundamental element not just to an organisation but to an individual as well. I want to share a bit of the research that I’ve been doing from quite some time about this subject called Happiness. When you cross 40, you stop getting bothered by great things. And I started wondering, what makes us happy. When I read some research done by others on what leads to happiness, typically a few things kept coming up. One of them is good relationships. Second is good health. And third is meaning or purpose in life. Having a meaningful or purposeful life adds to immense happiness in life. I’m sure many of us believe in that. Similarly I believe that an organisation also needs to have a purpose or a goal.”
