Media ACE’17: Sam Balsara receives Hallmark Award

The Chairman and Managing Director of Madison World was recognised with the Hallmark Award for his contributions to the media and advertising domains

Industry veteran and one of the most recognisable names in the Indian marketing sector, Sam Balsara, Chairman and Managing Director of Madison World, was recognised for his contributions by being awarded the Hallmark Award at exchange4media’s Media ACE Awards 2017.

"I am delighted to win this award. A few months ago, I completed 45 years of professional life but I must say that I still feel very young, I think thanks to our young advertising industry. I would like to tell the young people in advertising and media that there is no better place to be in India than advertising and media. It is common knowledge and the whole world believes that the next decade is the decade of India. It is also common knowledge that the Indian economy is an under advertised economy; advertising spends are less; just 0.4 per cent of the economy and it is bound to double in the next decade or so. Everybody who is in advertising and media in India is in a very good place. There may be a few challenges here are there, there maybe temporary pressures but I would advise them to have patience and the fruits are going to be really rich," said Balsara post his felicitation.

Recognised as one of the most influential personalities in the media and marketing domain, Balsara is also the recipient of the Advertising Agencies Association of India’s ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award and the Ad Club of Kolkata’s ‘Hall of Fame’ Award.

He is currently the head of the Indian owned Madison World, which has 26 units across 11 specialised functions in Advertising, Media, Business Analytics, Outdoor, Activation Events, PR, Retail, Entertainment, Mobile and Sports. Over the past 27 years, Madison has grown to become a Rs. 37 billion+ company, employing over 1,000 communication experts with offices in India, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Balsara has over 40 years of experience in marketing, advertising and media with companies like Sarabhai, Cadbury, Contract (WPP), Mudra and Madison, of which the last 27 years have been entrepreneurial.

The Media ACE Awards recognise Indian media agencies for their work and contribution to the industry.
