It's the hard work that matters, says Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting lauds marketing fraternity at Indian Marketing Awards, 2014
“Congratulations to all the winners. Undoubtedly everybody works hard, and I understand that after running a lot of cross countries in the Army. Whether you come first or last, it is one hell of an effort. So everyone who works and has put in all this effort, whether you are a winner today or you are going to be a winner tomorrow, you all have worked hard and so congratulations to all of you,” said Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, the Chief Guest at the Indian Marketing Awards, 2014. His short, crisp and impressive speech held the audience spellbound. “In the Army, Sports and now in politics, I have always worked hard and know the importance of hard work,” he said as he extolled the profession of marketing and the hard work that goes behind the advertising campaigns.
“I can fairly say that I am amongst the best in the business, best in the world, most creative minds, it is an honour being here. I come from a sports background so I understand the amount of hard work that goes into producing any of these 10,15, 30 seconds clipping, or the whole concept of how you come up with a strategy to sell something. And I know since you are the best, you can sell anything here including me standing right here.
“It is absolutely fabulous that we get to see some of these works that you do and get to read about them at times, and I know the kind of hard work and deadlines you would be going through, I can perhaps only imagine. We have deadlines as well in the army, they are more deadlier, but nevertheless your deadlines are as deadly. But what I do understand is you have a wonderful working environment, you create your own environment, I believe the way it works is that I get my ideas only when I eat this or I get my ideas only when I have such environment, and it is wonderful, you call the shots literally so you must get what you want.”
Talking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “We have one gentleman amongst my fraternity that people say are as good as you. I guess you would know who. But my Prime Minister, everyone says he is a great marketing genius, but I know that the kind of hard work that goes into his daily routine and therefore my daily routine …is pretty much the same on your side of the story as well, your side of the fence…I worked hard as an armyman, I worked pretty hard as a sportsman and now I have to work damn hard as a politician…”
