In 1998, he joined Coca-Cola India, embarking on a 13-year tenure that saw him rise through various leadership roles, including Vice President for South West Asia Operations and Marketing Director for Korea. His tenure at Coca-Cola was marked by significant contributions to marketing strategies across diverse markets.

Following his impactful stint at Coca-Cola, Mukherjee took on the role of Executive Director at Hindustan Times, where he played a pivotal role in steering the media house's strategic initiatives. He then transitioned to United Breweries Group as Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing iconic brands such as Kingfisher, Heineken, and Amstel, and driving their market presence.

In November 2022, Mukherjee joined Emami Agrotech as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer. Here, he led the marketing operations across various verticals, including edible oils, spices, soya chunks, and bakery fats. His strategic oversight was instrumental in rebranding efforts and in charting the company's innovation roadmap, positioning Emami Agrotech as a formidable player in the branded food manufacturing sector.

August 2023 marked a significant milestone as Mukherjee took over as Managing Director and CEO of Bata Bangladesh. This growth was attributed to increased consumer spending and strategic initiatives implemented under his guidance.
