IraYoga Wellness announced the launch of the IraYoga app on this International Yoga Day. The app is a combination of modern technology and ancient yogic practices that brings yoga right to the desk. It aims to address the employee health crisis across the country. One out of five employees in India Inc is suffering from workplace depression. MSK (Musculoskeletal diseases) are on the rise across the country, including the carpal tunnel syndrome, due to excessive typing and texting.

The company was founded by Ira Trivedi, a yoga teacher and writer, who gives lectures on yoga globally. With multiple yoga shows on television such as Doordarshan and India Today, she is the author of The 10 minute Yoga Solution and My Book of Yoga Series amongst other titles. Trivedi holds a degree in Economics and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Through her personal corporate experience, she understands how yoga can help workforces radically transform their health.

“Sitting is the new smoking. The IraYoga app will bring wellness to workplaces around the globe. No one needs yoga more than corporates who are stressed - both mentally and physically - and our app is an easy and effective solution,” Trivedi said.

Chronic disorders like heart disease, diabetes and mental health conditions such as depression are on the rise in the corporate sector around the world. Stress caused by work and a sedentary lifestyle, is the major cause for each of these. A 2018 Cigna-TTK survey reports that a whopping 95 per cent of Indian millennials report high level of stress which leads to heart disease and 25 per cent of these are those younger than 40. Furthermore, as per 2014 World Economic Forum, India stands to lose $4.58 trillion due to stress-related chronic diseases before 2030.

The IraYoga App aims to bring yoga right to the desk by focussing on cures to common problems such as neck, back, eyes, shoulders and arms.

The key features include 3-5 minute modules, workout scheduler, progress tracker, scoreboard, reward points and goodies, guided meditation and breath modules, and live training with expert yoga teachers.
