Micro:bit Education Foundation, a non-profit organisation instrumental in enabling children to get creative with technology and gain digital skills, has appointed Kavita Kapoor as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). She has been entrusted with the goal of reaching 100 million teachers, parents and children worldwide and inspiring them to get creative with the micro:bit.
Kavita began her career as a software designer, working with companies like the BBC, Channel 4 and Sega, and she also created award-winning digital products for the 2012 London Olympics."I've been hacking together code since I was a child," says Kavita, "so I'm really excited to be working with the micro:bit team. Coding skills will be vital for so many jobs in the future, so it's important to get kids involved as early as possible. "
“I'm also very keen to promote diversity within the tech industry: the micro:bit has been shown to develop girls' interest in ICT-related careers, so I'm hoping to inspire more young women to become part of the next generation of digital pioneers,” she added.
