1,097 gambling websites shut down in 2024: Ashwini Vaishnaw

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that there has been significant improvement in curbing online gambling and betting activities, with 1,097 websites taken down, according to a PTI report quoting Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The Minister of Information and Broadcasting told the Lok Sabha that the state and central governments have to work together to deal with such activities.
Vaishnaw was responding to supplementary questions during the Question Hour, where he said that such violations are dealt with through actions within the constitutional framework.
Addressing concerns about violent online games and their adverse effects on young minds, Vaishnaw also noted that the government has been working in tandem with various agencies that handle cybercrimes to clamp down on illegal activities.
