Vikatan Web TV announces first-of-its-kind debate around COVID-19 lockdown

The Vikatan Group, Tamil Nadu's media powerhouse of almost a century, with a strong presence across various media platforms, viz Print (Magazines), Digital, Youtube, TV Content Production, Awards & Activation, has come up with a debate, first of its kind on the YouTube platform, an innovative initiative from Vikatan Web TV, scheduled at noon on 14th April.

On the occasion of Tamil New Year, Vikatan Web TV with 1.77 Million subscribers, is organising a debate on “Curfew - Is it creating panic & anxiety? Or is it building discipline & patience?” with the renowned Prof. Solomon Pappaiah, Pattimandram Raja, Bharathi Baskar and others. With mounting concerns about coronavirus, its cure, uncertainty regarding curfew prevalent across the country, the topic revolves on the impact & learnings for the commoners.

Prof. Solomon Pappaiah, an Indian scholar and a television icon in Tamil Nadu is easily the most recognized face in the TV industry for his knowledge and moderation skills. Pappaiah is best known for moderating debate talk shows, known as ‘Pattimandram’, for over 2 decades. His command of Tamil enables him to take social themes to the masses. His modest approach in speaking and ‘down to earth’ speaking style has earned him a lot of reputation among the Tamil-speaking people all across the world. The panel of distinguished speakers is Kavitha Jawahar, Pulavar M. Ramalingam, S Raja and Bharathi Baskar.

Kavitha Jawahar is a poet & an eminent speaker. She has been actively participating in debates and she is famous for her uniqueness of presenting poetic expressions in simple and neat opinions. Ramalingam is an active speaker & a Tamil literary critic. Well known for his impeccable literary references, he was awarded “Best Teacher Award” from Former President of India, Abdul Kalam. 

S. Raja popularly known as Pattimandram Raja is a multifaceted personality popular for his speech in debate talk shows. A banker by profession, he is multi-talented and ventured into film acting and a prominent television host, besides being a speaker on TV debates. His opinions laced with humour & satire and his way of humble speech coupled with the presence of mind have gained him a lot of popularity among Tamil audiences across the world.

Bharathi Baskar is a Tamil orator, popular for her humorous debate on talk shows. She is an extraordinary writer and an active contributor to Tamil dailies. Her talent in presenting her opinions, acceptable by all, is commendable. She is best known for her speciality to combine history with current happenings and news. Vikatan WebTV has embarked on this ambitious initiative and put-together this novel debate show on YouTube surmounting technological issues and limitations posed by curfew & WFH challenges, both for the cast & crew.
