MP Govt appoints senior journalist Rahul Singh as Information Commissioner

Madhya Pradesh Government has appointed senior Journalist Rahul Singh as State’s Information Commissioner. Governor of Madhya Pradesh Smt. Anandiben Patel will be administering the oath of office of the Information Commission to Rahul Singh. A bilingual Journalist, Rahul, comes with senior management and editorial experience of over 20 years, most of it in television. He will be probably one of the youngest Information Commissioners in the country.

Rahul is presently working as an Input Head with newly launched National English News Channel India Ahead. Before that he worked as Assistant Executive Editor & National Editor of News 18 Regional channel Network in Delhi. He was involved with higher management of channel looking after local branding, hiring, government relation and operational issues.

Earlier he worked with India Today- Aaj Tak, Times Now, Zee News, Sahara Samay, ETV-News18, and Free Press Journal. He is one of few journalists in India who has expertise and experience in handling national as well as regional news channel content across the country. He comes with multi-state experience across Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, Assam & Northeast states.

Rahul’s content management skills vis-a-vis TRP rating comes under focus when he served as Editor of News 18 Madhya Pradesh in 2014 and later in 2016 when he became Editor of News 18 Gujarati. This feat pole vaulted his position from Editor to Assistant Executive Editor of regional language channels like News 18 Gujarati, News 18 Odia, News 18 Bangla, News 18 Kannad. Rahul also played a key role in the launching of News-18 Assam North East Channel.

Rahul has extensively used RTI during his reporting stint. Investigative journalism is his forte. He had exposed one of the biggest stories of 2005 - the Padarvada mass grave story from Gujarat for Sahara Samay. He was the only reporter who visited and investigated the site where bodies of Gujarat riot victims were dumped. Rahul has done several sting operations exposing corruption in various states.
