Creativeland Asia names Anup Vishwanathan as CEO
Vishwanathan joins Creativeland Asia from Times Network where he was Senior Vice President, Network Consumer Insights and Strategy
Creativeland Asia has appointed Anup Vishwanathan as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Vishwanathan joins Creativeland Asia from Times Network where he was Senior Vice President, Network Consumer Insights and Strategy. He will be working closely with Sajan Raj Kurup, Founder & Creative Chairman, Creativeland Asia.
Vishwanathan comes back to advertising after successful stints at Times Network and Sony Entertainment Television. Before that, he held senior management positions in Leo Burnett, Contract and McCann.
Talking about Vishwanathan’s appointment, Kurup said, "Anup is conscientious, calm and yet a very passionate business leader. With his invaluable client-side marketing experience and his pragmatic approach to the business of creativity, to my mind and to our board, he perfectly suits the role. He has, over the last few months here, demonstrated that he means business, and that really excites me about the future of this place we have all built with so much passion.”
On his new role, Vishwanathan said, “New challenges need new approaches. And that can’t be formulaic and along expected lines. Creativeland Asia has created a legacy imbibing this without fuss. That’s an important reason that brought me here. After spending more than 20 years on all aspects of marketing and advertising, I wanted to be in a place that’s not compartmentalised. Nothing gives me more joy than finding solutions to problems that are different and more complex than the other. I'm happy to be here doing exactly that and we are already on a roll with a busy quarter with new businesses and new forays already.”
He added, “Creativeland Asia has also forayed into creating technology solutions that will soon create ripples in the Indian industry. Its solutions for the automotive industry will soon make it to the mainstream.”
In January 2017, Viswanathan moved on from Sony to begin his second innings as the SVP Marketing of the news cluster (Times Now, Mirror Now, ET Now). His first innings with the network started in 2014 when he joined as the Marketing Head - English Cluster from Leo Burnett where he was Associate Vice President. In September 2015, he moved on from Times and joined Sony Pictures Networks India as the Marketing Head of its flagship GEC - Sony.
