The judgement day for 1025 entries from 96 agencies across 30 categories has arrived as the sixth edition of the most coveted awards for the creative industry in South India, the Pepper Creative Awards 2012, will take place in Cochin today.
The competition this year has categories such as Agency of the Year, Advertiser of the Year, Art Director of the Year, Copywriter of the Year, Special Jury Award, Campaign of the Year, Press Campaign, TV Commercial, Corporate AV, Outdoor and Radio, etc.
The Interactive section has categories such as Web-based, POP, Direct Mailer, Photography, Packaging, Logo Design, Unpublished Works, PR and Promos. Like every year, there is an exclusive category for participants from Kerala, covering jewellery, real estate, textile, hospitality, ayurveda and other industries.
“Minister of Tourism, A P Anil Kumar has shown interest in being a part of the awards ceremony and will be inaugurating the function,” informed P K Natesh, Treasurer and Ex-President, The Advertising Club, Cochin.
“We have received record participation this year with, higher than any of the previous edition of awards. All the multinationals and leading agencies from the south have sent in entries for evaluation. The response to the awards has been phenomenal this year,” he added.
The jury for this year’s awards comprised some of the most celebrated names in the Indian Advertising field including Agnello Dias, Founder, Taproot India; Prathap Suthan, Chief Creative Officer, iYogi and Founder, The Advisory; Priti Nair, Founder, Curry-Nation; and Raj Nair, ECD, Contract Advertising.
“One of the reasons for record participation is the jury this year. They are the stalwarts of this industry and have sat on national and international jury panels. Getting evaluated and awarded from them is definitely an achievement,” said Madhava Menon, Chairman, Awards Committee, Pepper Creative Awards.
Commenting on the quality of entries, Suthan said, “We had entries from big multinationals as well as small creative boutiques for judging. Regional work coming out of the agencies from South India is fast catching up with the work done on national level. The quality of the work, the craft, ideas, strategy, execution, etc. is at par with the work we see on a pan India level. Entries from radio and print demonstrated the power of the medium. It was a fantastic experience.”
