Festival of Media Asia gets underway today

The two-day Festival of Media Asia (FOMA) 2013 gets underway in Singapore from March 4. The event is expected to see the participation of around 600 delegates, offering a chance to understand what the region requires and how to deal with the demands of a diverse culture.

FOMA 2013 promises something different which has never been done before. On the last day of the event, a Guinness record is set to take place. Charlie Crow, CEO, C-Squared is the brain behind the festival and he shares, “We are hoping to break a Guinness Book of Records with the world’s first presentation to be delivered on mobile phones across 600 delegates present in the room. This is a great way to send out the message that mobile phones have truly come of age for advertisers.”

Sir Martin Sorrell, Group Chief Executive, WPP; Andy Lack, Chief Executive, Bloomberg Media Group; Tom Doctoroff, CEO, APAC, JWT; Rahul Welde, VP, Unilever Asia, Middle East, Africa, Turkey & Russia; and Vikram Sakhuja, Global Chief Executive, Maxus are part of 47 distinguished speakers who will share their thoughts and experiences of working in Asia.

Crowe further shared, “We may start doing some local events under the Festival of Media brand very soon in India and China.”

Clearly, with India being an important market, there are delegates from Indian media buying agencies too at the event. Amin Lakhani, Principle Partner, Mindshare India said, “I am looking forward to some interesting insights over the next few days. We would like to a take back a lot of things from here so that we can apply those and improve the way we have been working.”

The Festival of Media Asia also felicitates the best in media thinking and communications across the APAC region. Jury member Sushobhan Mukherjee, VP – Regional Strategy Lead, APAC, SapientNitro said, “I think Festival of Media is very targetted. The sheer number of languages, people and devices that you have makes it an incredibly great platform. I am looking forward to the awards which are important and the work that have been done.”

Unilever’s Rahul Welde sums up, “It has its own space being a media focused event and is great for the media industry in Asia.”

exchange4media is the exclusive Indian media partner for the Festival of Media Asia 2013. The Festival of Media Global 2013 will be held at Switzerland on April from 28 to 30, 2013.
