AME Awards 2011: O&M leads Indian shortlists, BBDO follows

The shortlisted agencies for AME Award 2011 have been declared. This year, O&M leads with the maximum number of shortlists from India. BBDO’s W.A.L.S. (Women Against Lazy Stubble) campaign has scored big once again.

AME Awards 2011: O&M leads Indian shortlists, BBDO follows

The shortlisted agencies for the Asian Marketing Effectiveness (AME) Awards 2011 have been announced.

Ogilvy and Mather leads the India shortlists with nominations in Best Integrated Marketing Campaign - Cadbury India, Most Effective Use of Advertising - Vodafone Essar Ltd, Best Sustained Success - Bajaj Auto Ltd, and Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Most Effective Use of Sponsorship and Event Marketing - Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Best Insights/ Strategic Thinking - Cadbury Kraft India and Breakthrough: Bring Human Rights Home.

BBDO’s much appreciated W.A.L.S. (Women Against Lazy Stubble) campaign for client Gillette has been shortlisted in all the five categories that it has been entered in – Best Integrated Marketing Campaign, Best Marketing Campaign for National Brand Development, Most Effective Use of Public Relations, Best Insights/ Strategic Thinking, Best Ideas.

On being shortlisted, Josy Paul, Chairman & NCD, BBDO India, said, “Gillette W.A.L.S. being shortlisted at the AME Awards means a lot to us. It speaks volumes about the bravery of the client and their belief in non-traditional ideas. Two, it tells us that collaboration is everything. We didn’t do this alone, but with the help of fantastic partners like MediaCom, Weber Shandwick, Encompass and GRIPS. Three, the campaign has had worldwide impact and has already received over 25 Indian and international awards. More than anything, it tells us to believe in the power of women. It always works!”

Besides O&M and BBDO, the other shortlisted agencies from India include DDB Mudra with two entries shortlisted; Mindshare, which also has two entries shortlisted; and RK Swamy BBDO with one shortlisted entry.

The shortlist was announced after four weeks of preliminary judging by a jury panel led by Jury Chairman Bob O’Leary, Head of Global Marketing, Citi.

The judges will re-convene at Pudong Shangri-La Shanghai on May 11 for the final judging session. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony gala dinner on the last day of the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Festival on May 13.
