Ajay Gupte: Leading Client Solutions at WPP Media South Asia

WPP Media South Asia has revamped its leadership structure comprising an Executive Committee (ExCo) and a WPP Media Leadership Council (WLC). The leadership team will partner closely with India and Sri Lanka head, Prasanth Kumar. In this recent transition, Ajay Gupte has been named President, Client Solutions, as part of the newly constituted Executive Committee (ExCo).

Ajay Gupte is a seasoned professional with over 23 years of rich experience across media, sales, and marketing in diverse markets including India, Africa, and Indonesia. He has rich experience across brands, categories and geographies.

Ajay served as Managing Director of Wavemaker Indonesia since 2011. He joined Wavemaker India in 2019 as COO- South Asia and in January 2020, Gupte was elevated to CEO – South Asia. Under Gupte’s leadership, Wavemaker has evolved from a traditional media agency into a full funnel growth partner for clients.

Before this, Ajay was with Maxus Global as the Business Head for its Delhi office. Prior to joining Wavemaker, he held various roles in sales and marketing with TVS Motor Company.

Gupte is known for his strategic embrace of AI and proprietary tools, particularly Wavemaker’s global planning platform Architect, which helps create targeted and personalized advertising solutions. His strong belief in adapting and innovating keeps clients ahead in the rapidly shifting media landscape. He continues to steer the agency toward client-centric innovation.
