Deepak Kumar Jha takes charge as The Pioneer Executive Editor

renowned journalist prrDeepak Kumar Jha has been appointed as Executive Editor of The Pioneer, the country's oldest newspaper, established in 1865. He holds over 21 years of experience in journalism. Prior to this role, Jha led the Bureau and also served as Metro Editor during his long tenure with The Pioneer, where he spent the majority of his journalistic career.

He also had a brief stint with Doordarshan Bharti and played a key role in launching the Delhi edition of the Mumbai-based tabloid MiD DAY. Throughout his career, he focused extensively on reporting and analysing developments related to the Indian Parliament, the Ministries of Education, Railways, and Road Transport & Highways, the Department of Personnel, as well as major national political parties.

Besides covering several State Assembly elections, Jha covered all General Elections since 2004 till 2024. To his credit for his insight, government had to alter the date of couple of competitive examinations last year which was presumed to be a holiday spree for Delhi and NCR voters during 2024 Lok Sabha polls. A mindful authorities kept in mind the same and the Delhi Assembly polls were held this midweek to avoid clubbing of any holidays. With many breaking stories to his kitty, Jha also faced censorship from couple of ministries and departments from successive governments.

He has honoured with several national and international awards for his investigative stories. He has also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha’s Media Advisory Committee and holds honorary advisory roles in various social organizations.
