Quick commerce unicorn Zepto has appointed Bharti Enterprises’ Akhil Gupta as Independent Director, media reports stated. Gupta is the Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, the parent company of Bharti Airtel.
The current board includes Zepto co-founders Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, Anu Hariharan, the Founder of Avra, and Suvir Sujan Co-Founder of Nexus Venture Partners.
Gupta is a seasoned telecom veteran who has worked for Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel, and Airtel Africa.
According to reports, this appointment is part of a major push by IOP-bound Zepto to strengthen its leadership ahead of its market debut.
