Hyundai Motor India Ltd has announced that Tarun Garg will take over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from January 1, 2026. This comes after the resignation of Unsoo Kim, who will move back to South Korea to take on a strategic role at Hyundai Motor Company starting December 31, 2025.

The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors in a meeting held on October 14. Until he officially assumes the role, Garg will serve as MD & CEO-designate.

Garg has more than 20 years of experience in the Indian automobile sector. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from Delhi Technological University and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. Before joining Hyundai, he worked with Maruti Suzuki India, where he handled key roles such as National Sales Head and Executive Director for marketing, logistics, parts, and accessories.

At Hyundai, Garg has contributed significantly to strengthening the company’s position in the market. He has been involved in shaping product strategies, introducing new technologies like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in various models, and improving overall sales quality. He has also helped expand the company’s reach in rural markets and the used car segment.
