Pizza Hut is undergoing a top-level leadership change following the completion of its sale, with global CEO Aaron Powell leaving the company after more than five years at the helm.
A regulatory filing from Yum Brands said Powell resigned as CEO of Pizza Hut and from his other positions within the group, with effect from September 1, 2026. His exit coincides with the closing of the transaction through which Yum Brands divested the pizza chain.
Powell took charge as Pizza Hut’s global CEO in 2021. He had indicated his impending departure earlier in August in a LinkedIn post, while also revealing that LongRange Capital, the private equity investor acquiring a substantial part of Pizza Hut’s operations, had offered him a position following the deal.
His resignation therefore took effect on the day the transaction was formally completed, bringing his tenure at the global pizza business to an end as its ownership structure changes.
