NDTV’s Sonia Singh steps down as Editorial Director

NDTV’s Editorial Director Sonia Singh has decided to move on from the organisation after a stint of more than three decades with the media house. Her last working day will be April 30, 2025.

A public disclosure issued by the company stated, “Ms. Sonia Singh, Editorial Director and Senior Management Personnel has tendered her resignation from services of the Company due to her future career plans.”

Singh wrote in her resignation mail, “This decision is based on my future career plans, and there are no other material reasons for my resignation. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Board Members and the Management for their support and cooperation during my tenure as Editorial Director. It has been a privilege to contribute to the growth of the Company. I wish the Company continued success in the years ahead.”

She joined NDTV in 1992 as a researcher when the network was producing The World This Week for Doordarshan. Over the years, she climbed the editorial ranks to become the Editorial Director and President of the NDTV Ethics Committee. In this role, she oversees the network’s journalistic standards and editorial policies, ensuring a commitment to credible reporting.

Singh has reported on some of India’s most defining events, from the Kandahar hijacking and the Kargil war to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the Jessica Lall case. Her extensive coverage of political and social issues has made her a key figure in Indian journalism.

She also hosts The NDTV Dialogues, a discussion-based show that examines pressing national and global issues with policymakers, experts, and thought leaders.

Academically, Singh was awarded a three-month scholarship from the Government of Italy to study Italian in Perugia. She is also a Chevening Scholar, having attended a broadcast journalism program at Cardiff.
