Jagran New Media CEO Bharat Gupta resigns as President of MCA

Bharat Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of Jagran New Media, has announced his resignation as President of the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA). Gupta held the role since the organisation's inception in January 2022. 

The MCA is a cross industry collaborative effort set up with the objective of combatting and limiting the spread of misinformation through targeted interventions and activities. It comprises 12 fact-checking organizations, three media companies and civil tech organizations. During his tenure, he focused on promoting digital transformation and innovation in the media sector.

Gupta played an important role in shaping MCA into a strong coalition, bringing together 12 fact-checking organisations and media companies, to combat the menace of misinformation. His leadership played a key role in promoting digital literacy and awareness of correct information.

Under Bharat Gupta's leadership, MCA took several important initiatives, including a collaboration with Google to fight election misinformation and a partnership with Meta's deepfake analysis unit. MCA also launched a helpline on WhatsApp providing fact-checking support in multiple languages, thereby expanding the organization's influence.
