After a career of more than 20 years in the media industry, Hemlata Sharma has stepped down from her role at Zee Media Corporation Ltd. Her last working day was October 7, marking the end of her fifth tenure with the group.

At Zee Media, Hemlata led the Distribution and Research team. She was responsible for managing the distribution of the network’s news channels in India and abroad. She also helped grow Zee Media’s presence on Connected TV platforms and was involved in new projects, including Esports and other digital initiatives.

Sharma brings more than two decades of experience across the media and telecommunications sectors. Throughout her career, she has been instrumental in guiding the transformation of content distribution, effectively managing the shift from conventional broadcasting to modern digital platforms.

At Zee Media, her leadership helped expand the network’s reach and sustain its relevance in a fast-evolving market. She supported the company’s shift toward changing viewer habits while ensuring a strong cross-platform presence.

Sharma has regularly represented the industry at various thought-leadership forums, including the Satcab Symposium and other key panel discussions, where she shared her expertise on the future of distribution, technological convergence, and data-driven decision-making in television.

Over the years, she has held significant leadership positions across major brands in the media and telecom ecosystem. Her career includes key roles at Zee TV, Zee Cinema, and the early launches of Zee’s regional GEC channels. She was involved in the launch of India’s first Multi-System Operator, Siticable, and worked with Turner Broadcasting, overseeing popular channels such as HBO, CNN, Cartoon Network, Ten Sports, and Ten Cricket.

In addition, she has contributed to the growth of Airtel’s broadband and telecom operations, played strategic roles at Reliance Communications, and held senior positions across Zee News, WION, Zee Business, and various regional news channels across Hindi-speaking markets and southern India.
