  • Duolingo has appointed Pei Ling Ho as its first Regional Head of Creative for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, to enhance its presence in a rapidly growing market.
  • Ho will lead creative strategy and execution across key APAC markets, including China, Japan, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia, reporting to the Senior Creative Director in New York.
  • With over 18 years of creative leadership experience, Ho previously held roles at Publicis Chemistry and Google, and is proficient in Mandarin, aiding her in addressing Chinese-speaking markets.
  • The appointment aligns with Duolingo's strategic focus on APAC, coinciding with the launch of Duolingo Ads, a mobile-first advertising platform aimed at engaging Gen Z consumers.

Duolingo has appointed Pei Ling Ho as its first Regional Head of Creative for Asia Pacific, underscoring the company's aggressive push into one of its fastest-growing markets. The newly created position, based in Singapore, will see Ho leading creative strategy and execution across key APAC markets, including China, Japan, Korea, India, and Southeast Asia. She will join Duolingo's Global Brand Studio, reporting to James Kuczynski, Senior Creative Director in New York.

The appointment reflects Duolingo's strategic focus on the Asia Pacific region, which has emerged as a critical growth area for the company. Ho will work closely with country marketing leads and agency partners to develop culturally relevant brand moments, partnerships, and content aimed at enhancing the learner experience across the diverse region.

Ho brings extensive creative leadership experience to the role, with over 18 years of experience working across Asia. She most recently served as executive creative director at Publicis Chemistry and previously held the position of global creative director for Creative Works, APAC at Google. Her earlier career included stints as creative director at Publicis Singapore and associate creative director at R/GA Singapore.

Ho lists Mandarin at a professional level on her LinkedIn profile, which could prove valuable in navigating creative strategies across Chinese-speaking markets in the region.

The hire comes as Duolingo continues to expand its commercial footprint in the region. In October, the company launched Duolingo Ads, a new mobile-first advertising platform designed to help brands connect with Gen Z consumers through character-led formats. The platform features Duolingo's signature cast of characters and includes rewarded videos and native ad experiences embedded into bite-sized learning moments.

The expansion into APAC's diverse markets presents both opportunities and challenges, as the company must navigate varying cultural preferences, learning styles, and competitive landscapes across multiple countries. Ho's deep regional experience is expected to be instrumental in crafting campaigns that resonate with local audiences while maintaining Duolingo's distinctive brand voice.
