Discovery Marketing Head Isaac John moves on

John, who was associated with Discovery Inc for over four years, will now pursue an entrepreneurial journey

Issac John, Head of Marketing, Direct-to-Consumer and Discovery Networks APAC at Discovery Inc, has put down his papers. John joined Discovery in 2017 as Business Head, discovery+ India/ APAC.  He led Discovery Kids' marketing for new IP's resulting in a 5x growth in the channel viewership.

He also led the marketing mandate for Discovery's biggest business initiative in India-Discovery JEET- encompassing an impactful national launch in a cluttered GEC environment.

In 2019-20 he led Discovery India’s direct-to-consumer business and launched discovery + in India. In 2020-2021, he led the GTM Strategy and Planning for the expansion of discovery + in APAC working with stakeholders across Product, Tech and Business Teams in respective countries.

In May 2021, he was promoted as Head of Marketing, Direct-to-Consumer and Discovery Networks APAC.

"Issac John will depart Discovery in March to pursue an entrepreneurial journey. We are sorry to see him leave but respect his decision. We'd like to thank Issac for his leadership, passion and significant contribution to Discovery's businesses across Asia Pacific, and wish him the very best for his future endeavours," a Discovery spokesperson told exchange4media.

Prior to joining Discovery, he was the VP, marketing at HealthifyMe, where he nurtured the brand voice and drove marketing leadership for one of the largest health and fitness apps in India. He was part of the team that grew the app from 1 million users to 3 million users in less than a year.

In the past, John has headed marketing for Puma in India. At Puma, he oversaw all media like offline and digital, communication, PR, sponsorships, brand alliances and retail marketing.

He has also worked with CNBC as Senior Manager- Marketing. He handled marketing responsibilities of Sport18, the sports marketing division of the Network18 Group, in the capacity of senior manager, Marketing. He was also associated with HT Media as marketing manager.
