Sameer Gogate has stepped down from his role as General Manager of India Productions at BBC Studios, a position he held since July 2019.

During his tenure, Gogate oversaw productions, developing new concepts, adapting formats, and creating branded content.

A BBC Studios spokesperson said, “After five stellar years leading BBC Studios India Production, Sameer Gogate has decided to pursue new opportunities and will be leaving in January. We wish him all the success for his future endeavours.”

Over the last five years under Sameer’s leadership, BBC Studios India Productions has produced local versions of many BBC Studios formats, including multiple seasons of Criminal Justice, Broken News (Press) and Jhalak Dikhla Ja (Dancing With the Stars), and originals including Highway Love, Ishq in the Air, School of Lies, Kaisi Hai Yariyan, Tujhpe Main Fida and the recent IMDB Top 10 hit in India - Shekhar Home.

Prior to BBC Studios, Gogate served as Head of Revenue and Business Development at Vuclip, a leading video-on-demand service, beginning in January 2017. Before that, he was the Chief Development Officer at Eros International Media, focusing on investments in original content creation.

Gogate's earlier career highlights include his role as Business Head of the Films Division at Endemol India, where he spearheaded the company’s entry into Bollywood and Southern cinema.

He also held key positions at Viacom18, managing commercial operations for Colors and overseeing syndication and acquisitions for Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
