The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has appointed Ashok Kumar Jha as Principal Advisor at the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) headquarters on deputation basis.
According to an office memorandum, Jha, who is currently serving as Chief General Manager (CGM) with BSNL Assam, will take charge at TRAI for an initial period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment follows TRAI’s recommendation (letter dated September 17, 2025).
The deputation terms will be governed by the Department of Personnel and Training’s guidelines, with specific conditions decided as per TRAI’s policies.
The DoT has directed that Jha be relieved of his present responsibilities immediately to assume his new role at the TRAI headquarters in New Delhi.
