Airtel strengthens top leadership team; ropes in Srinivasan Gopalan
Gopalan to join as Director – Consumer Business India with effect from Sep 2. N Rajaram, Govind Rajan, Najib Khan, Sriram Jagannathan, Mohit Beotra & Mohit Parasher will report to Gopalan
Airtel has roped in Srinivasan Gopalan as Director – Consumer Business India with effect from September 2, 2013. He will be responsible for driving the Consumer Business of Airtel and further growing revenues, margin and market share.
All product and design verticals, namely, N Rajaram (CEO – Data), Govind Rajan (CMO – B2C), Najib Khan (CEO – Homes and Office), Sriram Jagannathan (CEO – Airtel Money), Mohit Beotra (Chief Brand Officer) and Mohit Parasher (CEO – Own Retail) will report to Gopalan.
Gopalan joins from Vodafone UK, where as its Consumer Director, he was instrumental in turning around the performance of the business, enabling Vodafone to overtake O2 as the largest brand in UK. Prior to joining Vodafone, he worked with T-Mobile UK as Chief Marketing Officer.
Gopalan spent ten years with Capital One Financial Corporation in UK where he was elevated as the CEO and MD. Before joining Capital One, Gopalan helped in kick-starting the management consulting practice at Accenture as part of the strategy services team in India. He started his career with Hindustan Unilever as a management trainee after completing his Masters of Business Administration in 1992 from IIM Ahmedabad.
Earlier this year Gopal Vittal, who rejoined Airtel in April 2012 as Group Director – Special Projects, took over as CEO – India, Bharti Airtel. Gopal Vittal named new Bharti Airtel CEO
Vittal reports to the Chairman and Managing Director and is responsible for defining and delivering the business strategy and providing overall leadership for Airtel’s India operations.
