Rasesh Upadhyay has stepped into a pivotal role at the newly formed Reliance-Disney joint venture, leading entertainment strategy and operations.
In his new role, Upadhyay will work directly with CEO Kevin Vaz to drive the entertainment business forward.
Known for his impressive 14-year journey at Star India, where he served as VP of Planning and Treasury, Upadhyay brings a seasoned perspective in financial planning, budgeting, and deal evaluations. His close collaborations with various business teams made him an essential player in evaluating financial impacts and shaping business strategies within Star India, making him a strategic fit for this expanded role.
Before his tenure at Star, Upadhyay worked in finance at Etisalat DB Telecom, contributing to the landmark Etisalat UAE investment in India. Starting his career at Bharti Airtel, he was a key figure in Revenue Assurance, responsible for minimizing revenue leaks through data analysis and reconciliation, and later managing business planning and pricing for the Maharashtra & Goa circle.
With an eye for numbers and a strong grasp of the M&E landscape, his journey from Airtel’s revenue teams to Reliance’s entertainment arm is both steady and strategic.
